Let’s Talk About Music
Kitty: I’m so excited that Lady Gaga is coming to Taiwan! Are you going to see her concert in Taipei?
Daniel: I’m not into Lady Gaga. I don’t really like most pop music.
Kitty: Really? Why not? Lady Gaga is so famous. She’s so big right now! She’s fashionable and her songs are catchy. I hear her songs everywhere.
Daniel: That’s why I’m not into pop music. I want to find my own style of music, not whatever they play on the radio.
Kitty: So what kind of music are you into?
Daniel: I’m into all kinds of stuff: everything from world music, jazz and classical to alternative and electronica. I can listen to any genre as long as it’s good.
Kitty: What do you think makes music good then? Why do you like a certain band, singer, or song and not others?
Daniel: I like music that’s creative and original. I don’t like stuff that sounds all the same. I also don’t like when big record companies tell me what I should and shouldn’t like.
Kitty: Well, I still love Lady Gaga. But I’m curious about the music you like. Can you introduce me to some new music?
Daniel: Sure. I’ll make you a CD mix of some of my favorite music.
Kitty: A CD? You’re so old-fashioned! Just put it on my iPod.
